Welcome to best comic book covers of the week! Every week, the Comic Vine staff picks out their favorite covers of the week and presents them to you in a delightful package filled with joy and a tiny bit of fear. This week, we got quite a few covers to talk about, so let's get right to the super-duper action, already in progress.

To start things off, this week, we have WOLVERINE MAX #10 which has this stunning cover by Jock. He normally has a very distinctive style, but this is a bit different than what fans are used to. The yellow tones really make this cover stand out, and it's really cool to see the shadow go all the way across the page. This cover is really an eye-catcher, and it's always really cool to see an artist work the title of the book into the coverart.

Next up we have the startling piece from artist Simon Davis. It's the cover for KILL SHAKESPEARE: THE TIDE OF BLOOD #5. It's hard to ignore a cover that predominantly features a screaming head made of blood front and center on the cover. There's a great use of negative space here as well, and instead of keeping everything just plain white, Davis splatters some blood here and there to give this cover some movement as well.

I don't know if we've ever mentioned UNWRITTEN on this list, but it's a shame if we haven't. This month's issue, UNWRITTEN #52 a FABLES/UNWRITTEN cross-over has some fantastic art from long-time cover artist Yuko Shimizu. Her art on these covers is utterly fantastic. The way she places things within a cover is really cool, and we loved the borders displaying the names of the creators and title of the book. It has a very early-20th century feel to it.

How long has it been since we've had a super-classy cover on this list? A really long time. This week, AMERICAN VAMPIRE ANTHOLOGY #1 came our drawn by the extremely talented Rafael Albuquerque. This reminds me of a very mysterious and classy dramatic movie or the classiest invitation of all time. I like that the character on the cover is a little off-center and that he fades into the background.

AVENGERS ARENA #14 is next on our list and X-23 really wants you, the reader, to "bring it." This very close and personal cover was drawn by Mike Deodato. While X-23 looks great, one thing we really like is the color transition in the background, and how the hair, on the back of X-23's head, fades out into it. Cool concept and great colors here.

For G.I. JOE #7, Jamal Igle put together this very eye-catching cover with a really cool perspective. While the reader will direct their focus right away to the mask on Cobra Commander and the reflection over the city, which is super cool, make sure to check out the color work and line work on Cobra Commander's suit. We're loving the detail here and the color.

One person that pops up a lot on this list is artist Phil Noto, for good reason: he's pretty dang awesome. This week, he drew up a really cool looking cover for UNCANNY X-MEN #11, from the perspective of the Blockbuster Sentinel! There's a lot to look at on this cover from the characters in the Sentinel's site to the words on the cover. It's a pretty striking cover with some very great color work.
