It's time for the third edition of the Comic Vine Movie Awards! From sci-fi craziness to adorable animation, 2014's variety of films really did have something for everyone. We know that's such a cliche saying, but there truly was a great selection of movies to choose from. And if you didn't enjoy anything this year, well, you're just ridiculously tough to please. Anyway, the Comic Vine staff has reflected on this year's movies and we've created nine categories. Ranging from best director to best visual effects, we hope the experience will make you enjoy thinking about the movies you really liked and maybe even motivate you to watch some of them all over again. The first three categories are right here in this article, but the next three won't appear until tomorrow and then the final three will be shared on Monday.
This first part of the 2014 Comic Vine Movie Awards is all about characters! Below you'll find the polls for best hero (which of course includes some teams, because separating them would make things way too crowded), best villain, and best supporting character. Not only should you think about which fictional beings you liked the most, but you should also take into account the performances. Were you not the biggest fan of a certain character but the performance really won you over and had you totally captivated? The polls will stay open until next Friday, so that gives you a whole lot of time to really think it through before picking the ones you want to win! Many of these movies are now available to watch at home (whether it's via Blu-ray/DVD or On Demand), so that means you have time to rewatch many of these movies before voting as well.
We have six more categories on the way, so check the homepage Saturday (tomorrow!) for part two and Monday for part three! Once again, voting for all of these categories will stay open until next Friday, so that should give you plenty of time to really give these options a good amount of thought. Have fun voting, readers!
