Each week we take a close look at a comic book collectible. That means taking it out of the package. With Guardians of the Galaxy coming out on home video this week, we thought we were long overdue to take a look at the biggest Guardians LEGO set, The Milano Spaceship Rescue.

The set contains 665 pieces. Thankfully the pieces are separated into separated bags (and two instruction booklets), which makes assembling go a lot faster.

With such a big LEGO vehicle, it is pretty impressive once you assemble it. It has a very solid feel to it also. You can pick it out without worrying about it falling apart if you hold it at the wrong part. It looks really good too.

The set retails for $74.99. You likely won't find it for too much cheaper. Even Amazon has it close to the same price--$70.99. But, as you'll see, you do get a second vehicle (also included in the Starblaster Showdown set we looked at HERE back in June) and some more minifigures.
Check out the detail of the Milano.

There's a lot of different parts to the ship and lots of blasters (with pieces that actually shoot). You can adjust the different parts of the wings to give a little variation in the look.
The cockpit might be a little smaller than in was in the movie but Star-Lord has a pretty cool seat. It even reclines.

There are other seats in the ship. If he's going to be hanging out with the other members of the Guardians of the Galaxy, there needs to be room for them to sit. (Although Groot from the Knowhere Escape Mission set, looked at HERE, will not fit).
The top of the ship comes off so you can put in and move the other figures around.

As you can see, there is a tape deck and speakers so Star-Lord can listen to his Awesome Mix Tape. If you want, you can take it out and it looks like a boombox.

As for the other ship, you can use it so those pesky Sakaaran's can fly around to visit Ronan the Accuser.

Looks like Ronan has the Orb. That's not a good thing. Luckily Star-Lord has some blasters to even the odds.

And if you really want, you can try to do a dance-off.
Remember that big old gun Rocket made so they could shoot Ronan? That's included here as well.

But Ronan does have the Orb so what will a LEGO gun do?

Once Star-Lord gets a hold of the Orb, he can show them that they are the Guardians of the Galaxy...

For many, it's about the mini-figures. Take a look at them.

Bonus!
Toys 'R Us has an exclusive Rocket Raccoon and Groot mini-set. I believe it cost five or six dollars.

It's only thirteen pieces but also comes with some decals you can put on the Milano if you want.

The great thing is, you get Groot from the end of the movie. He has a gun as well.

The Toys 'R Us I went to had a lot of these.
That's it for this week. This set might be a little pricey for some but with the holiday gift-giving season upon us, it's a great item to add to your wish lists. Let us know what you thought of this selection or if you already have it. We'll have another selection next time.
