Each week, we like to take a close look at an amazing new collectible. That means taking it out of the packaging. This week, we've got eight pieces of shelf candy, courtesy of the Hot Toys team. Not everyone can be Tony Stark and have an armory full of Iron Man suits -- but the next best thing is a deluxe set of sixth scale busts.

Collections of busts/figures tend to come in slightly less impressive boxes than their solo counterparts (with the delicious cover art being swapped out for a plastic window showing off the goodies) so we won't spend too much time on the packaging. Besides, I've heard these babies light up.

Each bust is about four and a half inches tall, and surprisingly sturdy for its size. They're in line with normal sixth scale sizing, and come with round-bottom bases with inset switches for the LED lights. The paint is metallic, and the detail is incredible (especially the 'distressed' paint on the special battle-damaged Mark 42!).
Have I mentioned how they look super cool when the LED eyes and heart are lit up?

and a Battle Damaged Version of the Mark 42 (exclusive to this collection).
Seven of the busts in this set are sold individually, and can be purchased via Sideshow Collectibles. The Deluxe Set comes with all eight, including that special Battle Damaged version of the Mark 42. (And, let's be honest, that damage is pretty cool looking.)
Iron Man enthusiasts (and film fans!): these are some must-have figures. They're crafted with the excellent quality you're used to from Hot Toys, and they're a great addition to any shelf or case.
I'm probably going to burn out the batteries by keeping them perpetually lit so they can fight off any dangers that strike my bookshelves. (These figs also come with a little plastic strip to prevent battery drain before you're ready to activate the lights -- I pulled mine out immediately because I wanted a little glow show, but you can preserve battery life as long as you'd like.)

Separately, these busts look pretty cool. As a set? Spectacular. (Pardon my lens flares.)

I haven't decided if these bad boys are going to hang out together on the shelf, class-picture-style, or if I'm going to space them out like bookends around my favorite Marvel trades. Sound off in the comments about how you'd style them!
